ReRides - Readywebgo Partnership
WorldAglow founder and EL wire, solar lighting and LED guru Mike Gudgus has launched a new venture with Readywebgo to promote rubber recycling by creating high-quality, functional products that can be returned to the market and outlast the product it came from. The rubber comes from used inner tubes harvested from bicycles, light trucks and other types of vehicles. Rubber is not cost-effective and very difficult to recycle thus it ends up in landfills and won't degrade for many years. Tires and inner tubes account for over 50% of the rubber produced each year worldwide. Each item we make is made from up to 98% reclaimed & recycled content by weight. We clean, process and manufacture ReRides entirely in the U.S.A.
The focus on bike inner tubes is tied to the fact that more rubber is used for bike tubes nowadays than light trucks and cars. Plus we are finding cyclist support recycling.
The team Mike has put together is getting used to working with rubber - the washing , stripping, laying out, designing and sewing processes. They not only work with rubber, but are making use of other "fabrics" to create items from their imagination like candy wrapper purses and bracelets and they promise to have more tricks up their sleeves as well.
