SmarterMail to replace iMail - no cost to clients

iPlan Email Clients and Users,

We have completed the purchase and are completing the installation of the newest version of SmarterMail, as an upgrade to our current mail server from iMail. We haven't transitioned any user accounts yet, but we are planning the transition for this weekend!

This is a NO COST upgrade for all our users!

There are several NEW enhancements and upgrades for you to comtemplate or
consider:

- Awesome web interface for users, with Ajax controls, and spam filtering overrides.
- SSL Encryption on all Web and SMTP traffic.
- SMTP Submission port using SSL available for users to send mail from the server (CableOne users can now send out properly)
- Plugins for Outlook sync for calendar, contacts and email.
- Plugins for Apple iPhones and Windows Mobile phones (IMAP and SSL)

Some of you will be chomping at the bit to get things like Blackberry and iPhone support, new applications and security products. Give us a little time to complete this transition and we'll provide you with a couple of low-cost setup options in the near future!

New, Easier Webmail Interface!

Rather than going to http://mail.mydomain.com:8383, you will access the new webmail system by going to:

http://mail.mydomain.com. No more PORT 8383!

With all of these changes, and hundreds of mailboxes to convert, the mail server will be offline for approximately 4-6 hours. All inbound email will be queued up (stored) and delivered when the new system starts running. NO outbound mail, or WEB/POP3 access is possible. This is due to the sheer number of messages and mailboxes on the server that will need to be transitioned. Our goal is to transition between midnight and 6:00AM Mountain Time on Saturday.
