As a small businessman, he provided communications equipment to firefighters, policeman and other agencies, and, as a result, David came to understand the entrepreneurial effort it takes to build a business. By helping other small businesses across Idaho and the Northwest to succeed, David more than doubled his territory sales volume in six years. He now works as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser.
Early in 2002, David decided to put his knowledge of public policy to work once again. He had a love of the state of Idaho and a desire to see the state move forward that he felt would serve both the public and the state well. He decided to run for the state legislature. With the help of hundreds of grassroots volunteers, David won a seat in the Idaho House of Representatives in November 2002. In 2004 and 2006, he was elected to the State Senate.
David proved to be a true voice of his district, working for education, working families, outdoor recreation and natural resources, and fairness in tax policy. He also worked with legislators from both sides of the political aisle to build consensus for issues that were in the best interest of the state and its people.
